Sarah has been involved in dogs most of her life, having raised 3 puppies for the Seeing Eye when she was young.  In 2001 she started working for a trainer who encouraged her to join the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) which opened up a world of education & different training perspectives.  In 2002, Sarah made a decision facilitated by her own experience with her Hungarian Vizsla Cooper’s extreme dog reactivity – she left her corporate job with IBM to pursue a career helping people train their dogs.  Not only was Cooper able to compete in APDT Rally but he achieved the highest titles & was nationally ranked for 3 years.

Sarah has worked at doggy daycares, volunteered at shelters, worked as a vet tech, and owned a pet sitting/dog walking business.  In her career she spent 8 years at St Hubert’s Animal Welfare Organization & was honored to be an instructor for their flagship “Feisty Fidos” program for aggressive/reactive dogs (of which Cooper was a graduate).  Sarah is currently a CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, as well as a CNWI (Certified Nosework Instructor) through the NACSW (National Association of Canine Scent Work).  She has experience teaching all levels of pet training, classes for reactive/aggressive dogs, Rally Obedience, K9 Nose Work, Puppy Agility, Treibball, and private consults and behavior evaluations for individuals, shelters and rescue groups.  Her passion now is teaching the sport of sniffing so that her students may compete in NACSW, AKC, UKC, PSD, etc. or just enjoy this magical sport with their dogs.

Sarah lives in Southampton with her 10 year old Vizsla Rayne.  Rayne is currently a demo dog for Sarah’s Nosework classes, an AKC Champion who holds titles in NACSW K9 Nosework, AKC Scent Work, UKC Nosework, Barn Hunt, Coursing Ability, Trick Dog, Farm Dog & Parkour.

Sarah has been teaching K9 Nosework classes for over 7 years.  Formerly a UKC Hide Official, she is currently an NACSW Odor Recognition Test Judge & an AKC Scent Work Judge.

One of Sarah’s core beliefs about dogs is that every canine is born with unlimited potential and intelligence – the sport of K9 Nosework which is based on professional detection work has proven over and over how capable dogs are of solving complex problems !!  Many of Sarah’s clients have started the sport of sniffing “just for fun” & end up competing in multiple venues as they enjoy the journey and develop a deeper bond with their dogs than they thought possible.
